Congratulations to the 2009 winners of Needlework New Brunswick prizes! We are pleased to announce there was a strong competition for quality and quantity of needlearts at this year's Kings County Agricultural Fair. Needlework New Brunswick is proud to sponsor two prizes in connection with this event, North America's longest running agricultural exhibition as it marked 114 years this year.Laura Stockdale of Drury's Cove claimed the Golden Needle prize for her entries in the most needlework classes.Marion Anderson of Wards Creek takes home the General Excellence award for having the highest overall standing among needlework entries at this year's event.The two Sussex area women received books "How to Make An American Quilt" and "The Friday Night Knitting Club" to enjoy.Thank you and well done to all stitchers and fibre artists who participated!

The second edition of the NBSPCA Resource Directory is complete! Double the size of the 2008 original, this Canadian first is designed to put pertinent information at the fingertips of the Atlantic Canadian animal welfare community.

We are also delighted to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Needlework New Brunswick! This organization was created as an umbrella for the province's fibre artists, sharing information and news on what's happening with this increasingly popular hobby in NB and other parts of the Maritimes. It's a real pleasure to share this craft with you and here's looking forward to many more years! 

We congratulate Karen Kidd on the launch of her new book,

"Haunted Chambers: the Lives of Early Women Freemasons"

this month!  It was our pleasure to assist with the research into this little known portion of the long-standing organization.

   August 26 is proud to announce the creation of an easy-reference index for the popular book of Sussex history, "The Story of Sussex and Vicinity" by Grace Aiton. This 145-page account of the growth of Kings County was published in 1967 to mark Canada's Centennial. Look for the new reference index on this site's

   Congratulations to the 2008 Forbes Scholarship winners who are embarking on their college and university careers this month! Five Sussex High School students are recipients of the generous educational funding through the Sussex Area Community Foundation annually. Have a great year!
